AKAP - Silahis ng Kalusugan

CHSM HS73 GOLDEN JUBILEE LEGACY PROJECT

University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital's SILAHIS NG KALUSUGAN  was founded in 1966 by the renowned pediatrician Dr. Perla Santos Ocampo.  This is a hospital-based school for the chronically ill children and those undergoing prolonged treatment schedules for cancer and other systemic or congenital conditions.  The program provides a way for the sick children to continue their education, despite their illnesses and situations that would otherwise cause them to postpone or even give up their education.  It is the only one of its kind in the Philippines to date.  This program is in keeping with the PGH's mission of providing "comprehensive, people-empowered and accessible healthcare, especially to the underserved".  Once their condition permits, these enrolled children attend classes and are awarded a diploma so they can move forward and rejoin regular schooling.
